Surrounded by the sandy Costa Blanca beaches and the crystalline waters of the Mediterranean Sea, Alicante has a rich heritage built over thousands of years. Alacant (as it's known in Valencian) has a deep history ranging from the first tribes that arrived at the slopes of Mount Benacantil to Greeks, Romans and Moors. Nowadays, this modern city features a bustling harbor, great Spanish nightlife, charming old streets and modern beach resorts.
Overlooking the city from the top of Mount Benacantil, the Castle of Santa Barbara was built during Islamic rule in the 9th century. Cascading down the slopes towards the center of the city, L'Ereta Park has terraced levels that offer stunning panoramic views of the city. The remains of the ancient Roman town of Lucentum are also just a few miles away.
Barrio de la Santa Cruz is the historic quarter, featuring narrow streets, old houses and cobbled steps. Framed by palm trees and covered with a snaking pattern of white, red and blue tiles, the Explanada de Espana is considered one of Spain’s most beautiful promenades.
After arriving at Alicante Airport, indulge yourself in a resort near San Juan beach, or enjoy the view of luxurious yachts moored at the marina from a cozy B&B: Booking.com has the perfect spot for you to discover the magic of Alicante!

I really enjoyed Alicante.
I really enjoyed Alicante. It was authentically Spanish and multicultural with many Moroccan and Algerian cafes and restaurants in the urban area in which I stayed.
The Esplanade is a very attractive area with good tree cover providing shade on the promenade. There are some lovely boutiques and clothes shops in the centre. I loved the Mercado, with its fish and meat markets and the MOBAG art gallery was showing a fantastic exhibition of drawings by Salvidor Dali.
Prices for meals and drinks are very reasonable.
I felt very safe as a solo female traveller and had no issues whatsoever.
I used the bus service and the tram-train regularly and was really impressed with their efficiency and regularity. I was also impressed by the traffic flow in the city and the suburbs. there were no traffic jams, no speeding and all drivers drove carefully, whether in cars, motorbikes, or indeed e-scooters (which are allowed on the roads).
The population look happy and content and seems to have a balanced lifestyle. I shall return.

First visit for my mother who is 86.
First visit for my mother who is 86. She loved the city and with the lift to Castillo Santa Barbara and the well laid out paths to Castillo San Fernando she was able to enjoy most of the main sites. A first visit to MUBAG for us both.....wonderful space. The Metro was accesible and comfortable so we enjoyed a trip to Villajoyosa and the Valor chocolate museum - again the facilities there meant the tour was fully accessible.
Loved El Parque Palmeral, although because of road works, finding a working bus stop to get back was a bit of a challenge, which was overcome with the help of some lovely local people.

Initially I found it hard to navigate my way around the city as it is vast, with SO many little side streets, avenues & larger shopping areas. I didn't have mobile data so had no access to maps or translation apps unless I was back at my hotel (using the free wifi) so in future I wouldn't be so stubborn by refusing to pay the data roaming fees :) It would have made my life so much easier. That said, by getting lost & exploring, I discovered streets & places that I probably wouldn't have otherwise so it just added to the adventure! Weather: 10/10. Scenery: 10/10. Once I got my bearings I was able to really enjoy myself & would definitely go back again!

Busy city - beautiful beach - market every evening on the promenade- lots of restaurants- bakeries all
Look exceptional- also many tapas restaurants-
Plaza Commercial worth a visit if shopping is your thing
The transport connections were excellent, the beach was beautiful. There's not too many supermarkets around for such a residential area, so I was glad that the cleanest supermarket I have ever been in was around the corner from the apartment. I was holidaying by myself and found great peace of mind that the studio was in a gated community and there was 24 hour security. This is the first time that I have holidayed in Spain where wifi was promised and wifi was delivered. Not only that but Netflix and Amazon Prime was also available.
This is a wonderful old building in the heart of Alicante, nicely converted to a modern hotel.
All members of staff were excellent. They were very welcoming and professional. The night porter was very helpful with our luggage and early departure by taxi.
The hotel is within a short walking distance of the airport bus and other public transport, including Alicante's excellent new tramway system. Everything in the city centre is within easy walking distance from here. This is a place where you can holiday well without a car.
I think the amount of options available for breakfast beats every hotel I've been to - whether your a vegan or not they have everything. They can also cook stuff for you.
The room is very nice, with very very comfortable bed and pillows. The smell in the hotel was great and the staff was helpful. The staff from the reception also helped us with printing the boarding tickets for our flights - Alicante airport is a bit behind with accepting bar codes it seems. The checkout is very quick.
I would stay there again.
An exciting adventure of a hotel with world's best receptionists and management who did their best to fulfill every need or request i had during my 4 days stay.
It really felt like home to be there - soundproof rooms, extravagant interior design, amazing smell and quality of body care products and the hotell itself, and not to mention its amazing location in the heart of everything - Postiguet beach, Old city, restaurants, etc.
Will absolutely come back there should i travel to Alicante once more. :)
Great breakfast, many options. I wished there were more plant based protein options, such as beans. There was beans one day out of ten, I ate alot! Speaking of which, i really like the variety in the breakfast buffet. They switch it up.
The location of the hotel in perfect in Alicante, close to the beach, and close to trams and buses that take you downtown. I prefer good air quality, so living in the city centre isnt for me.
Both gentlemen at the front desk were cheerful, welcoming and helpful with directions. This urban hotel is an older building with character. We were only 3 floors above city traffic but the street is narrow and not overly noisy. I have discovered that beds in Spanish hotels are not as comfortable as in the US or UK. They ranged from extra firm to hard. but this one was second best of the 6 hotels we stayed in Spain.
The property looks really nice, it’s unique and it’s clean. The hotel was very good located. There was nice places to eat and drink.
The staff was incredible friendly, funny and I really feel super comfortable. It was really hot in Alicante, and they always gave us some cold water before we left the hotel.
I can totally recommend the hotel for the stay in Alicante.
We love the Hotel Maya. It is our go-to city break hotel in Alicante. We love to travel on the tram, which is so close, into the city centre and soak up the atmosphere. This trip we stayed close to the hotel and discovered the Barrio Virgin del Soccoro, a street full of restaurants which brings you right onto the beach and a mirador. Perfect for people watching.
This is the best hotel we've ever stayed in! Absolutely new and clean renovation, stunning Jacuzzi right in the center of the room, incredibly large and comfortable bed, compliments from the hotel, and a star location - right next to the bullring! Very romantic and the best time of my life! Will definitely come back to Alicante to this hotel many times again!!!
The property was conveniently positioned for the tram into the city and the beach was aprx 500m away. The local restaurants are great, try Bruto for Italian, Lorea restaurant on the beach front was great. Please Rembrr this area is real Spain so be patient if the don’t understand you at first, use translate or learn a little Spanish before hand. Enjoy !
Centrally located on one of Alicante's busier streets. Hotel met our expectations with polite and helpful staff with a good choice of food at breakfast. Surrounded by many restaurants and bars for convenience if required. Rooms were cleaned daily and adequate for our needs. A decent stay in a enjoyable city.
The view is absolutely gorgeous! Our group enjoyed hanging out in the dining room area and enjoying the view of the ocean. We also liked that the bus stop is right outside the apartment (less than 10 min to Alicante city center) and the beach is a couple minutes walk. The host was very friendly as well.
The hotel is in an excellent location for exploring Alicante. Having a near 180 degree of the harbour and main street was a real bonus. Staff were engaging and friendly. Highly recommended to those with a day or two to spend in the city.
The house is in a very nice area close to Alicante, it's the perfect location to access the city but also avoid it if you want some calm. Margot is very sweet and has the biggest heart - Thank you again!
This place is amazing! Really good price for the new hotel. All furniture and really everything is very new and nice. IMO best hotel in Alicante for that price. It was also close to the city center.
It is a very nice hotel near the beach and two Alicante tram stations.
The staff was great, the bed was comfortable, wifi was good, and the restaurant was very good. I also got a good price.
Brilliant hotel so close to the airport, but very quiet (no plane noise).
Great size rooms, and ideal for a toddler. Swimming pool was excellent.
Very accessible to Alicante city centre.
The hotel was clean with a nice pool area and breakfast was decent. It is on the beach road so good for easy access and there are some restaurants close by.
